Alexander Iaccarino "That Kid Who Draws" is an artist based in Davenport, Iowa of the Quad Cities. He classically trained in the arts by his grandfather, Raphael Iaccarino, and completely self taught in the digital arts. Iaccarino has created a deeply involved body of work that has been widely featured in print, tee shirt lines, large-scale murals, installations, and web comics. He currently has work displayed at the ARTery gallery in Rock Island, Illinois as well as Bucktown Center for the Arts in downtown Davenport (www.qcartery.com).
While "That Kid Who Draws" would imply working only in pen and ink Iaccarino's works are created in a variety of styles from digital pop art, photo manipulation, and large scale paintings. With many different mediums, Iaccarino's work conveys the same dark and dirty portrayal of the world around him. A controlled chaos.
Iaccarino has humble beginnings as a digital artist creating pop art portraits and album covers for bands both locally and nationally. His style attracted the attention of international design and photography studio's which led to collaborative projects for clients like The Studio and Jenna Jameson.
Perhaps the most startling aspect of Iaccarino's work was the multimedia performance project, Zwatch, which he created with the help of other QC artists in the fall of 2009. www.zwatch.org features the whole story on this controversial art project.
Since 2009, he has stopped freelancing in favor of personal projects.
